Chinglish Alert! is run by David Feng. Born in Beijing, he grew up in Zürich and is presently in London after 14 years in China. When he was based in Beijing, he took an interest in signs he passed his way that were mangled in Chinglish, resulting in a 2011 book in Mandarin Chinese about the topic. This got him introduced to key scholars in the field and created David’s own radio show about English in 2013. In 2014, David was part of the editing committee of the Handbook of Everyday English for Beijing residents; he also provided audio and video content for the same book. He has also been involved in improving English for Chinese national railways. David is now Visiting Academic and Visiting Lecturer at the University of Westminster’s China Media Centre, where his focus of research is on social media in China.
